TVET Division

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Division of has an overall responsibility for the development and management of a comprehensive, partnership based TVET system. Without limiting the generality of this, the following are specific activities within TVET Division for facilitating TVET trainings.

Here are the main responsibilities of TVET Section;

  1. Develop and receive competency standards approved by Employment Standards Councils and accepted by the MAB.

  2. Support the ESCs with technical Panels to identify competency standards to be recommended to the ESCs

  3. Maintain an inventory of competency based standards.

  4. Develop or acquire and keep current, curriculum and learning material models based on these competency standards leading to MNQF certification levels.

  5. To develop and maintain an inventory of private sector trainers including Enterprise that provides training and to support the use of approved competency standards within the NQF, in this training.

  6. Monitor and evaluate TVET programs. Prepare reports with recommendations based on the evaluations.

  7. Carry out Assessments for TVET programs. (MAB has designated its authority to TVET to carry out assessments).

  8. Issue National Certificates for competent participants.

  9. Organize standard writing workshops as well as Assessor trainings.

  10. Organize awareness and recruitment trips for TVET programs. To increase the awareness among the public for TVET programs, TVET unit publishes a quarterly newsletter as well as brochures and leaflets for all its programs.
